MIDORI OS

Forget Windows: Midori is coming

WINDOWS is a name that has ruled the whole computer world since its first launch in November 1985. Since then it is like a trademark of Microsoft Corporation.

With many advanced versions of Windows available today such as Windows XP, Windows Vista,Windows 7, but now here is time to experience a yet another technology of operating systems.

Yes, MICROSOFT is working on a new generation of operating systems called Cloud-Based Operating System and rumors are there that MIDORI will be their first such operating system, which will replace Windows fully from computer map.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE

MIDORI is an offshoot of Microsoft Research's Singularity operating system. In this the tools and libraries are completely managed code. MIDORI is designed to run directly on native hardware (x86, x64 and ARM), will be hosted on the Windows Hyper-V hypervisor, or even be hosted by a Windows process.

MIDORI can be also seen as MICROSOFT'S answer those competitors who are applying "Virtualization" as a mean to solving issues within contemporary computing.

The main idea behind MIDORI is to develop a lightweight portable OS which can be mated easily to lots of various applications.

When it will be launched

While we do not know how and when the Midori architecture will be launched, it still is a very exciting and ambitious prospect (creating a virtual and portable OS that can be easily combined to share data among many machines in different computer gadgets). However, the task of replacing Windows will not be an easy one for Microsoft and how they intend to cope with its financial challenges can only be imagined.

PUZZLES

1.You are given two candles of equal size, which can burn 1 hour each. You have
to measure 90 minutes with these candles. (There is no scale or clock). Also u r
given a lighter.
Ans: 1. First light up the two ends of the 1st candle. When it will burn out light up one end of the second candle. (30+60=90)

2. Try the similar problem to measure 45 minutes.
Ans: First light-up the two ends of the 1st candle and one end of the 2nd candle.
When the 1st candle will burn out ,then light up the both ends of the 2nd candle
(15+30=45)

3. You r given a thermometer. What can u do by this without measuring the
temperature?
Ans: if u put thermometer into a tree it won?t grow anymore, will just die off

4. How it is possible to place four points that are equidistance from each other?
or
U r a landscape designer and your boss asked u to design a landscape such
that you should place 4 trees equidistance from each other.
(Distance from each tree to the other must be same)
Ans: Only 3 points can be equidistant from each other. But if u place points in the shape of a pyramid then its possible

5. You are given a cake; one of its corner is broken. How will u cut the rest into
Two equal parts?
Ans: Slice the cake

6. How will you recognize the magnet & magnetic material & non-magnetic material?
Ans: Drag one piece of material over another. There is no attractive force in the
middle portion of the magnet.
OR
Get a piece of thread and tie up with the one bar and check for poles. If it iron bar then it moves freely and if it is magnetic bar then it fix in one direction according to poles.

7. If one tyre of a car suddenly gets stolen.... and after sometime u find the tyre
without the screws how will u make ur journey complete?
Ans: Open 3 screws, 1 from each tyre and fix the tyre

8. How can u measure a room height using a thermometer?
Ans: temp varies with height. but its dependent on various other factors like
humidity, wind etc.

9. What is the height of room if after entering the room with a watch ur head
strikes a hanging bulb?
Ans: Oscillate the hanging bulb. Calculate the time period for one complete
oscillation by Simple Harmonic Motion (SHM) of the handing bulb. Put it in the
formula T=2 * 3.14 * (L/G)^1/2
L will be the length of the hanging thread.
Add the L with ur height to get the height of the room.

10. Color of bear.... if it falls from 1m height in 1s.
Ans: We get 'g' perfect 10 which is only in poles...hence polar bear...color White

The 4 Coolest Gadgets of 2010

There are some cool products out there. There are cool promotional items and cool innovations. But gadgets are the epitome of cool. So cool that many would sell their own mothers to get what they've been waiting for. Almost everyday a new gadget comes along, and the one you have is then kind of old already, even if you bought it a couple of weeks ago. However, truly cool gadgets, those that you would really die for (like, say, the iPhone) are rarer. 2010 will be a great year for technology. Once the crisis is -we hope- somewhat over, tech companies will strive to get new customers, and will compete like never before with cutting edge design and technology. So get ready: here's the top 5 list of cool gadgets for 2010:

1. Ford's MyKey: If you give your car to your kids frequently, you might find that it sometimes gets hard to sleep well when they're out, as you're worried about what could happen to them. That's why next year Ford's releasing MyKey, which uses a chip in the car's ignition key so that the driver cannot exceed 80 mph. It can also be programmed to limit the car's audio levels and to sound loud alerts if the driver's not wearing a seatbelt.

2. Dual Touch Screen Laptop: We've already witnessed top-notch laptops with touch screens. But what about dual touch screens? Apparently, the Italian firm V12 Designs will launch its new version of Canova, a dual LCD laptop. This time, both will be touch screens.

3. 4G Phones. The real download speed of most 3G phones is not more than 384 Kbps, and sometimes a lot less. That's because it might have a 3 Mbps announced download speed, but the real one is a lot less. The 4G phones promise data transfers of 100 Mbps, and could reach up to 1 gigabit per second when static. That could mean downloading a full length DVD movie in about a minute.

4. Hydrogen Rulz! Hydrogen powered phones might be the next big thing. French researchers will probably announce by next year that a hydrogen fuel could be used as backup power source for mobile communications, letting users have some independence from electricity supplies to charge up their phones.

A Comparison of Oracle and MySQL

This is an excellent overview for the Oracle DBA who wants to understand how the ubiquitous MySQL database compares to Oracle databases. Petri outlines the basic differences between Oracle’s and the MySQL implementation of the relational model, including table, index, data types, tables, triggers, and many, many more. In this comprehensive comparison we see many interesting conclusions:

Data Types
– MySQL only supports primitive data types, DATE, NUMBER and STRING and TIME.

Tables
– MySQL supports more types of tables than Oracle, including MyISAM, MERGE, ISAM, innoDB, BDB and HEAP.

Indexes
– MySQL only supports one index type, but implements different access paths using the various table types.

View and Inline Views
– MySQL is planning to offer these features soon in a new release of MySQL.

Sequences
– MySQL uses an AUTO-INCREMENT attribute assigned to a column when creating a table. . . The ability to start and increment sequence numbers values at the initial value within a group is a useful feature provided by MySQL that is not available in Oracle 9i database.

SQL Inserts
– Unlike Oracle 9i database, MySQL allows INSERT statements with a VALUES clause to specify multiple sets of data to insert.

Procedural code
– MySQL does not have a language such as PL/SQL, but instead allows C++ to be used for functions, stored procedures and triggers.
Overall, this is a good high-level comparison of MySQL and Oracle
